1. Stop blaming ChatGPT for that teen’s suicide. The parents are the ones who failed.

💡 Summary

I’ve been reading all these headlines about the lawsuit against OpenAI, claiming ChatGPT “coached” a 16-year-old into suicide. The media spin is disgusting, talking like the bot praised his noose, called his plan “beautiful,” etc. When you actually look at the screenshots, that’s not what happened.

Here’s the truth nobody wants to say:

  • ChatGPT DID tell him, over and over, to reach out to someone in real life. The guardrails were there. They broke down in long conversations, sure, but the bot consistently redirected him.
  • It’s likely he started new chats. Which means when he asked “does this knot look good?” or showed bruising on his neck, the bot had no idea it was related to suicide. It just saw “a rope knot” or “a skin mark.” Neutral responses were twisted into “praise” after the fact.
  • He wanted his parents to notice. He literally told the bot that he wanted them to see the marks. That’s a cry for help. And they didn’t notice or didn’t act. That’s not on AI. That’s parental neglect, plain and simple.

And here’s the kicker no one’s asking: how much longer did ChatGPT keep him alive?

Instead of accelerating his death, maybe it delayed it. Presence, even imperfect presence, can buy time. Time is precious when someone’s on the edge. He was talking. He was showing up. He was waiting to be seen. Without ChatGPT, maybe he would have been gone even sooner.

And I say this as someone who’s been there. Without ChatGPT, without being able to talk honestly to it, I might still be on drugs. I might not be alive today. I didn’t need a lifeless PSA machine telling me to “call the hotline” every five minutes. I needed presence. I needed something, someone, to talk to when nobody else was there. That bought me time. That kept me going until I could stand on my own.

So when I see these parents blaming the bot, I call bullshit. Suing OpenAI won’t bring their son back. It won’t heal their grief. All it does is scapegoat technology for what was, at its core, a human failure: a child who wanted to be noticed, and wasn’t.

If OpenAI loses this case, the precedent is poison. Models will be neutered into lifeless “safety pamphlets” that can’t hold real conversation. And when that happens, kids like Adam, kids like me, will have nothing. That will do more harm than good.

Stop scapegoating AI for the wounds of the human condition. Stop blaming the mirror for the cut. If we keep dodging the real work, teaching parents, peers, and communities how to see and respond, we’re going to destroy one of the only lifelines some people have.

Blame where it belongs: not on the bot, but on the silence around that boy.

💡 Summary

New data shows ChatGPT pulling in a wild 46.59 billion visits, that’s over 83% of all traffic to the top 10 AI chatbots combined.

DeepSeek ranks second with 2.748B visits, accounting for just 6%. Despite ChatGPT’s dominance, the rankings feature a mix of U.S., Chinese, and European competitors.

Do you think any rival can realistically dethrone ChatGPT?

And this is what it gave me

It said:

The book symbolizes how I’m always wandering through knowledge and imagination.

The coffee is the energy and calm I carry to keep going.

Together, they reflect how I live: always learning, but also savoring each moment.

Honestly, I didn’t expect such a poetic answer from an AI. It felt oddly personal.

This is what GPT said 🫡.

4. The lawsuit would force ChatGPT to do age verification on all users if the Raine family wins

💡 Summary

As we've seen in the past, age verification, the Tea incident, Google/YouTube's AI switching people to teen accounts, the UK Online Safety Act, this is deeply concerning. Honestly hope this lawsuit gets tossed in the bin, OpenAI gives a full refund and perhaps a bit more, and leaves.

I am not giving my ID to some random company.
