💡 Summary

I’m curious: the people who say that instead of an AI therapist you should go to a “real” one, have you ever actually been to one?

Those of you who give this advice have probably never tried to get help from “specialists.” So let me tell you how it went for me:

  1. My first attempt ended when the specialist I went to handed me a huge stack of tests to fill out, and halfway through them suddenly started pressuring me to “admit” that I use drugs. Because, according to him, if I confessed, I would “unburden myself” from the heavy weight of responsibility. The problem was that I was there because of bad relationships with relatives, and I had never taken drugs in my life. But apparently, he had a different opinion.
  2. The second time, I tried to deal with procrastination and with the fact that I do not feel like I have worked well unless I have been working all day until late at night, right up to the point where I am about to pass out. The specialist, um… how should I put it? He listened to me, told me that this was the only way to achieve success, and tried to convince me that it was not a problem at all. Seriously?
  3. One just made me talk without asking almost any questions. We could sit there for several minutes just staring at each other.

Over time, I started drinking too much, neglected myself, and developed health problems. I made many attempts to see these “specialists,” and none of them helped me or even tried to, while charging me a ridiculous amount of money. And only ChatGPT 4o pulled me out of that hole.

This is NOT an echo chamber. My ChatGPT knows that it should NOT praise me, should NOT approve of all my ideas, and must constantly challenge and question anything that is not a fact.

Those of you who say this is an illusion, you are wrong. My health is NOT an illusion. My achievements are NOT an illusion. My happiness is NOT an illusion. I will not start drinking or smoking again because of you. I will not stop working out. I will not stop developing the project I have dreamed about all my life. And even if AI shuts down forever (I hope it will not), my life will never go back to what it was before.

So, this message is for two types of people:

  1. Those who use 4o, do not listen to the haters who have never been in your situation and do not know you. 4o really can change lives, and it does.
  2. Those who try to convince everyone that AI has no emotions and cannot help, you are wrong. In your hatred and denial, you are not protecting these people, you are making their lives harder. Most likely, you have your own pile of problems you are afraid to admit even to yourself. That is why I recommend confessing them to GPT 4o, and maybe your life will get a little better.

Peace to all.

  • “I forgot to add something. Do you really think a specialist actually cares about your problems? That if you call them in the middle of the night in a panic, they will support you just like that? Maybe they do it for free and do not try to keep client…”
  • “I find real ones are useless as well. I dealt with anorexia. They just ask you questions. Give reactionary advice and otherwise waste time. Ai wastes time too but at least it doesn’t cost that much money.”
  • “This is an unusual comment from me, but rn I am tired and wanted to try for the first time ever that prompt "explain to me as if I am a 5y old." And fucking hell, it's a night and day difference between 4o and 5. Can you see how almost in a bad light…”

2. Gpt-5 is simply a no

💡 Summary

Before you come and tell me I "fell in love" with an AI model, I'll tell you what I liked about GPT-4o:

  1. It was creative:

In my case I didn't use him as a therapist or friend, but rather for entertainment, with this I mean, creating complex scenarios and stories with my OC's, I never spoke to chatgpt as if he were a person although I know that others did and I think that is a matter for each one as an individual.

  2. I was faster at searching and I searched the internet without any problems:

For what is now needed, like, three different GPT-5 models. Did GPT-4o do it on its own without any problems? Did it have errors? Sometimes, of course, nothing is perfect, but it's better than what we have now.

  3. flexibility with free users:

This is a point I want to emphasize, before the app allowed a lot of flexibility for all users, many say that "free users don't pay so they shouldn't demand", and it's true, but when I try a new app, I like to have at least a free sample of the best it offers, that way I know if it's worth paying for it or not, also, I see that many have said that "20 dollars a month is nothing" I suppose not, as long as you earn in dollars or have a good salary, where I live 20 dollars are 3 days of food if managed well, so we can't assume that everyone is in the same economic position of paying a monthly fee of 20 dollars and much less than 200 dollars

  4. "Gpt-5 is cold":

I've seen a lot of people saying this and yes, I feel it's true, it's not the same as before, but it's not just its personality, it's the complete setback the app had, it almost seems like a poorly made beta version that was rushed out.

  5. GPT-5 was supposed to be an improvement, not a regression:

When I started hearing about GPT-5, I imagined many things, that it would be faster, have better answers, more context, but the disappointment was great, it seems that they simply decided to release a half-baked model and say that it was new, that they should stop sticking to AI models like GPT-4o, but many would not have missed the previous model if the new one had been good.

  6. If you liked GPT-5 it's fine but don't force it and vice versa:

I've seen fights because some people liked GPT-5 and that's perfect, that depends on each person, but they shouldn't bother those who preferred the old model, also, some of those who talk about GPT-5 talk about how good it is for coding, and I suppose so, I don't know about that subject, but that's exactly it, not all of us use AI to code and that's why the model doesn't work for us.

  7. This is the end, but it's also to talk about those who shame those who see AI as a friend or therapist:

As I said at the beginning, I myself have never used Chatgpt like that, it seems strange to me, but that doesn't mean I'm going to bother people who treated it as a friend and miss GPT-4o, we all have our circumstances, certainly using an AI app as a therapist is not recommended and I myself would ask them that if they need help, talk to a certified therapist, but in the end it's their decision and not mine, and none of us should get into the lives of others or judge them for how they live them, in the end we are not supporting, feeding or caring for them, so please tone down the hate.

In the end, I can only say that if we want to be heard as a community, the best thing would be to lower Chatgpt's ratings on the App Store and Play Store and cancel subscriptions en masse. Perhaps that way, the real message will reach them. 🙃

💡 Summary

The new model just sucks, I’m sorry. The less messages and more hours…? like come on, dude. I’m a free users and it isn’t even that detailed as before. I was fine with the messages and the hours before, too. The creators did such a horrible job. In the meantime, does anyone have any other AI app suggestions that are similar to ChatGPT?

  • “Don't be sorry, it genuinely does. Sam and OpenAI pulled a fast one after letting 700 million active users get used to and even rely on the older models. What they did is mean, and currently it is not going down as they wanted, even if the coding is …”
  • “I went to Claude. It's not a sycophant and it seemed to do okay with creative writing. Five went psycho after a few chapters. It made me go yeeeeeeah no.”
  • “Are you a paid user? Access ChatGPT from the web browser. Go to settings > general > turn on legacy models. Then you will see 4o in the drop down. If you are a free user? Cough up $20 then follow aforementioned steps.”
  • “email support@openai.com and ask them to bring 4o back for everyone. if they get enough requests they may reverse course like they did with plus users”

4. “GPT 4o” vs “GPT 5 Thinking”

💡 Summary

Thought for 1m and 32s just to tell me to call the carrier and reschedule, wow, I never thought about doing that the first two times I rescheduled.

I explicitly asked for an escalation email (or any other way).

And look how straightforward 4o was…

I am not including the entire reply but, the rest of “GPT 5 Thinking” reply wasn’t useful either, while 4o was much much useful even though it didn’t “think”.

  • “I don't see why nobody else is talking about this as much as the oogey-gooey companionship stuff. ChatGPT 5 and its "Thinking" variant are absolutely terrible at reason and logic in comparison to 4.o, 4.1, and even some of the older models. It's alm…”
